From around the web: The Future of the SBC—Local Associations

Within my denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention, there are three levels of partnership: associations, state conventions and the national convention. Churches connect to the local association, which comprise the smallest area of the three.
There are similar structures in other denominations, often called districts, diocese, or conferences, with varying levels of autonomy from the national structure.
Yet, the way churches connect is rapidly changing. This new reality is causing strain on historical relationships, like those with associations.
